Theory Of Multi Media Writing

My theory of multimedia writing is based on the idea that writing is not all about words. It's more about how you can make words work together with images, sounds and videos in digital spaces, to communicate the meaning intended. Multimedia writing is done well when you do this successfully. You have to carefully choose images and words so the audience can understand the message you are trying to get across.

When I first started this semester I thought multimedia wiring was meant for strong essays and adding images after or any type of medea included. I learned that multimedia writing starts much earlier than that. It starts when you think about the message you want the audience and platform to comprehend while engaging in your work. Now I ask myself how the media can support my writing and what kind of communication works best for the ideas themself. This shift in thoughts connects to the National Council of Teachers of English Described in literacy in the digital age. Today, literacy creates communication across different platforms and technologies with continuous awareness of culture. My portfolio reflects the understanding that my work moved from texts, to blogs, media, creating organized multimedia.  One clear area of growth for me was my audience awareness. At the beginning of the semester I was writing simply for the instructor. As the semester progressed I shifted my audience to people outside of the classroom. I imagined future employers and creative collaborators. The change was drastic. I would use as much academic language as possible and assume the reader understands the context, but not reach the broader audience. It reminds me of when I write music. I started when I was 12, and I remember trying to understand the concept of writing to a world of people rather than just a family of 4. The change made my delivery more direct and intentional for the information presented.  Most students have learned 1000s of ways to deliver the English language to convey topics. Ever since the beginning of time we have been like sponges. New vocabulary words became used in our natural flow of life. Having the ability to access these words as you please is very important.

My understanding of the rhetoric was progressive throughout the semester. I expanded my perspective for sure. The choices you make while composing like word choice, visual placements, sounds, and other information are key. In many projects I used repetition and contrast to emphasize some of the main ideas I was trying to convey. I also think of a metaphor like a marathon and keeping with a certain pace. I tried to use enough quality content throughout the projects and keep the pace steady in terms of knowledge and entertainment.

Another part of my theory of multimedia writing is valuing the process. Drafting ideas, and making outlines. Then coming back later and revising them. This was essential to my growth as a writer because it made everything clear and organized. It showed me what was and wasn't meaningful and I was able to expand on what was. A few projects in my portfolio that show this process clearly. Drafting, revising and reflecting helped me grow as a multimedia writer. I learned that it's not all about being perfect from my first portfolio project. It's about being appropriate in accordance with the goal. The audience's need is what really matters. That is what I focused on throughout the semester.

My future goals  are represented in the portfolio. In a professional setting like media productions and communications, we learn these skills to adapt and create on different platforms. Instead of just using AI you can shape the content for the audience. You can get very specific with details. I've seen very impressive work in my past and always had an interest  in doing it myself. Digital writers have the influence on how messages are shaped and also shared to others. Multimedia writing is not just about creativity but is also about thoughtfulness and effective communication. You have to make sure that what you present is clear and meaningful. It also has to be accessible easily and look good. Being intentional with the media means understanding the audience in the impact you are having. The portfolio shows where I am now as a multimedia writer. It shows growth through experimentation and accomplished tasks. Technology will continue to change and adapt. The approaches we use will evolve with that into a very cool future. The human aspect will probably always be there.
