Connecting through YouTube and Education

Kenneth Burke had a simple and powerful idea that really allowed me to see his perspective . He believed that connection is the heart of persuasion. What I understand from his work is that trying to convince people that a bunch of facts and information do not usually change anything. Real persuasion happens when people can see themselves in what you are talking about. Like it's your own self that you relate with. When they feel like you understand them completely, they pay attention. It is more about finding common ground than proving a point.
That idea connects a lot to my Project 3 video essay about YouTube and education. YouTube is one of the easiest and most creative ways to learn new things in modern time. It is avaliable to everyone, and it lets people teach and learn from anywhere. Honestly, if it was not for YouTube, I would not have learned how to use video editing software. I had wanted to learn that for years, and one day I just looked it up and taught myself through videos. It felt good to figure it out step by step with real people sharing their screens and explaining things.
In my video essay, I want to show that same feeling. I plan to speak in my casual tone, and talk like I am having a real conversation. I want the audience to feel like we are learning side by side, not like I am teaching from a distance. That shared experience is what makes connection real.
